Student Library Resources

During my tenure with Anthem College, I developed a variety of student resources. I found that both students and instructors needed assistance in identifying the library resources most appropriate to their needs, as well as how to use these resources. Conducting information literacy sessions helped with this, but many students were overwhelmed with the amount of content covered in these sessions. As a result, I developed a variety of handouts for students containing the basic information. That way, they could focus on the instruction and trying the databases without having to write down as much information, and had a guide to refer to when researching later. The following are some of the handouts that I used:

Library Resources Handout

This document outlines the library resources available to students.  It includes information about logging into the computer system, accessing the electronic library resources, and basic library policies and procedures.  It was provided to students during library orientation, as well as given to faculty as a reference resource.  Information literacy training sessions were customized to focus on the specific elements and tools most relevant to the particular class or assignment.

Massage Therapy Library Resources

This document was put together in support of the massage therapy program.  It included information about logging into the school computers and email system, the electronic library resources, and print resources specifically for massage therapy.  I worked with the instructors in the department to identify books that supported the various classes in the curriculum, so that students could reference resources that were particularly applicable to their course.  Many of the books highlighted were purchased on recommendation from the department staff.
